An oasis of calm in the middle of the Tangiers medina.

Recently  (as you may have seen mentioned on my facebook page) I spent a few nights in Dar23 as I needed a base from which to do some exploring (and shopping!) in the medina of Tangiers.
Owner Peter has created a beautiful home here, that he kindly shares with the rest of us who find ourselves in need of a place to rest our travel weary limbs.
Aside from its near perfect location
(just around the corner from the Petit Socco, which is a central point, easy to find and ideal for a mint tea or two after a day of medina meanderings)
what I loved the most about Dar23 were the details . . . both architectural and decorative.
From the bookshelves to some vintage beads, layers of thoughtfully chosen textiles and carefully curated ceramics - my eyes wandered from point to point, discovering colours and textures along the way.

now step inside and lets look around a little more

I stayed in this room . . .

or you could choose this one . . .

and once you have unpacked, wander up to the roof terrace

and enjoy a glass of mint tea-in-tangiers at Dar23

and if you can drag yourself away from this oasis,
a few steps down the road, a right and a left and you are at the Petit Socco . . .
I met Janet and Andrew from Dar JAND there for a tea or two at Cafe Tingis where we caught up and watched life in the medina pass us by!
